The playing field and playground is an important village asset very well used and enjoyed by children and their families throughout the year.  It is held in a charitable trust for the village and the Parish Council is the Sole Trustee.

Unlike many playgrounds, the Cononley playing field was not built and is not maintained by the County Council. It is fully funded by the village community.

Cononley Playing fields Committee helps to look after the interest of the park on behalf of the Sole Trustee. In addition, the Friends of Cononley Playing Fields is a broader group of parents and children who volunteer to help occasionally with tidying, maintenance and fundraising.

The Cononley Gala

Every year the Cononley Playing fields Committee with the help of the Friends of Cononley Playing Fields organise the Cononley Gala. An annual village event that has been happening for years.  It is the main fundraising event for the playing fields and allows the Sole Trustee to fund and maintain the playing field and the playground equipment and surfaces.
